Arrest Made in Sacramento Drowning case
The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 20-year-old Richard Froemke in connection with the death of Robert Alexander Rodriguez. Rodriguez was last seen on April 10, 2008, walking around the area of the I Street Bridge. Froemke, who was with Rodriguez at that time, reported seeing him fall into the river and not resurface. Rodriguez was not reported missing until four days later. An extensive search by the Sacramento Police Department was launched for Rodriguez.
On April 17, 2008, the Sacramento Police Departments Marine Unit, along with the Yolo County Sheriffs Marine Unit, was searching the area around the I Street Bridge. The Yolo Marine Unit observed a body float to the surface of the Sacramento River. The body was later identified as that of Robert Rodriguez.
An autopsy revealed that Mr. Rodriguezs death was caused by drowning.
Homicide Investigators completed their investigation and forwarded the case to the Sacramento County District Attorneys Office for review, at which time a warrant was issued. Earlier today, Froemke was arrested for manslaughter.
