28-year old killed on Marconi Avenue
On May 5, 2008, at 7:56 p.m. Sacramento County Sheriffs deputies responded to a call regarding a shooting in front of a liquor store in the 2400 block of Marconi Avenue. Deputies arrived and found the victim sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in front of the store. The 28-year-old white male was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
There were two adult male witnesses in the vehicle with the victim at the time of the shooting. Sheriffs Homicide Detectives have learned that as the vehicle the victim was riding in was pulling into a parking space in front of the store, a red vehicle with two or three-Hispanic males (all in their early twenties) was pulling out of a parking space next to the victims vehicle. As the vehicles passed each other multiple gunshots were fired from the red vehicle, striking the victim at least once.
Investigators have also learned a Hispanic or light-skinned Black female in her early twenties, wearing a white shirt and blue shorts was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting and may have been a witness to the crime.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined. Anyone with information regarding this murder or the female seen leaving the scene is urged to call Sheriffs Homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
